OLQM

Art

Students visiting the art room each week are able to develop their own personal style while exploring the various media presented to them.  Growth and development, both cognitively and with their small motor skills, are evidenced in the ever changing gallery of art in the hallway and display cases on the lower level of the school.

Keeping the basic elements of art in mind, projects are created using: color, line, texture, shape and patterns, many of which enhance the core curriculum of the individual grade levels.

With the renovation and addition of 2000, we were blessed to have an art room, complete with a kiln.

On occasion, students are able to use their talents to reach out into the community with projects such as creating placemats for local nutrition centers, patriotic panels for voting booths, and developing artwork for environmental calendars or the Thanksgiving Day Parade, to name a few.  Always a proud showing to be a part of, the Students Out Town Art Exhibit is an annual event showcasing area schools' artists, held at The Community House in Birmingham.
