Dear Early Childhood Program Parents and Families,
Welcome back! I hope you have been enjoying your summer and are just as excited as I am to start school in just a few short weeks. My name is Danielle Peterson and I will be your child's new Lead Teacher this year. I graduated from Northern Michigan University in Michigan's beautiful upper pennisula with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education and Family Life Services. My previous experiences include two years of teaching Preschool and Pre-K in Farmington Hills, a year as a Supervisor for a Before and After School Care Program in Troy, and two years as a Third Grade teacher in Illinois.
For the past seven years I have been blessed to be able to stay at home with my three boys: Nolan-7 yrs, Grant-5 yrs, and Andrew-2 yrs. Three years ago my husband, Christopher and I "found our way back home" to our faith by becoming parishioners here at OLQM. After discovering I had never been confirmed, I decided to join the RCIA class and complete my confirmation sacrament. To make it "official", we also had all three boys baptized and renewed our vows here at OLQM. Last year was also Nolan and Grant's first year at the school. They were welcomed with open arms and instantly made new friends. The boys grew tremendously not only in their education but also in their faith. Having all these powerful impacts on our lives in such a short period of time, I knew I wanted to give back to our OLQM community in any way I that I could. I love to teach and I love working with this OLQM community. I truly feel blessed to have this opportunity to be joining your child in the Pre-K classroom this year.
My philosophy for learning is that each child is unique and learns in a different way. I believe one of my jobs as a teacher is to aid your child in discovering his or her own individuality and work along side them to maximize it. I believe in hands-on experiences, learning creatively, and learning through play.
This is going to be a fun-filled year!
Sincerely,
Danielle Peterson
