Overview
Central to our teaching approach is the belief that children need time, opportunity, and materials to construct their own understanding about the world. We do offer a teacher/student ratio of 1 to 8 with a maximum of 24 children. A formal assessment process keeps parents aware of student development. Our school year begins after Labor Day and finishes at the end of May.
Curriculum
Our carefully prepared, age-appropriate environment is located in a dedicated wing of the school. Our exceptionally large classroom is divided into a Play Room which features pretend play stations and a School Room where subjects such as writing, math, science, art, and language development are taught. Both teacher-directed and child initiated activities include prayer time and both direct and indirect lessons in the Catholic tradition. Children develop small motor skills using specially selected manipulatives. Large motor skills are strengthened in our music and movement and physical education programs. A special space features our inviting library. A daily snack is given.
