Early Childhood Education from a Catholic Christian Perspective

The preschool programs at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs enroll children between the ages of two and a half and five. The curriculum is based on sound child development principles and practices and traditional Catholic educational convictions.

Catholic Christianity is a faith tradition with an enduring commitment to education. There are many Catholic educational characteristics that are found in the preschool programs at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs.

To name a few….

  • An Appreciation of Creation. The world and all creatures are viewed as good.
  • A HolisticOutlook. There are many facets to the human person. Teachers assist in the recognition and development of individual gifts and talents.
  • An Invitation to Personal Holiness. Teachers model goodness and joy.
  • An Experience of Community. Learning in a group fosters caring and sharing. Care of the classroom is taught and peer relationships are encouraged.
  • A Comprehensive Curriculum. Art, science, music, literacy and mathematics are included and presented in a developmentally appropriate way.
  • A Commitment to Love. Children are made in the image and likeness of their Creator and are accordingly treated with respect and kindness.

To educate is ultimately to nurture our divine potential. This is primarily the role of parents. Our goal is to appreciate and support the creative spark that burns brightly in every child.

We believe God is present in our Catholic preschool programs. We demonstrate that belief through daily prayer. God’s goodness to us is thanked and praised. And, the convictions described above are carefully integrated into our approach to educating young children.
