Overview

Our Lady Queen of Martyrs was established in 1954 by the late Rev. Lucian A. Hebert and the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, Ohio.  The school opened with six classrooms, enrolling 300 students in grades one through five.  Over the years, the school has developed, changed and expanded to accommodate the growing needs of the community.  OLQM now boasts a successful early childhood program, a thriving grade school, and an academically challenging college preparatory middle school.

Located on nine acres of residential property in Beverly Hills, our facilities include everything from a state-of-the-art computer center and science lab to an art studio, gymnasium, and outdoor soccer field.  In most grades, there are two classrooms per grade with a maximum of 26 students per class.

At OLQM, kindness, compassion, and Christian charity are as much a part of the learning process as reading, writing and computer science.  In other words, we teach and live by our faith.  Students prepare liturgies and attend mass weekly, pray daily and are instructed in and receive the sacraments of Eucharist, Reconciliation and Confirmation.  Our students regularly participate in various Christian Outreach projects such as Adopt-a-Family, Jump Rope for Heart, monthly food drives, and Make A Difference Day.

OLQM offers a variety of sports and after-school clubs designed to create happy, well-rounded individuals.  These range from Math and Drama Clubs to intramural soccer and CYO volleyball (City Champions in 2005).   These activities are partially supported and wholeheartedly endorsed by our very active Parents’ Association.  The OLQM PA hosts annual fundraisers, such as a live auction and Lenten fish fry, as well as a number of social events for both adults and families.  Engaged parents contribute to the success of our students and help create the close-knit, family-friendly atmosphere that OLQM is known for.

After graduation, many of our students continue their education at Catholic high schools such as Marian, Brother Rice, University of Detroit Jesuit, Notre Dame Prep and Shrine.  Others go on to some of the area’s top-rated public high schools in communities such as Birmingham, Troy and Bloomfield Hills.  Whether they choose private or public high schools, OLQM graduates are prepared to succeed academically, spiritually and socially during the next exciting phase of their lives.
